What have school communities had to say about Gilda's CLASS?

I personally believe that this program should be in every school district so that school professionals, parents and students can learn about cancer and understand the importance of emotional and social support." (School District Superintendent)

"This was my favorite health class." (Middle School student)

"The game gave me the answers to the questions I had wondered about." (Middle School student)

"The presentation was delivered in a comfortable, upbeat way and was supportive to students who spoke in class. It made the students realize there are support systems for them - not just the patients." (Teacher)

Statistics show that 3 out of 4 families in Westchester are impacted by cancer. Since 2007, the Gilda's Club Westchester School-Based Program has visited schools across the county, and more than 90% of the students we've seen report that they know someone who has or had cancer. Despite this, many students feel alone in their cancer experiences and have many unanswered questions. Gilda's CLASS enables school professionals to address a difficult topic in a way that is non-threatening and supportive.
